Project launch: January 1, 2024

Building a Working/ Training Kitchen in South Africa to offer skills training to the unemployed.

  1. Goal
To create a functional kitchen where staff can prepare high-quality food for residents and provide food delivery services to the poor and infirm of the town. Additionally, this kitchen will serve as a training facility for adults and youth groups.
  2. Challenge
The kitchen at our care centre poses a serious health hazard and is impractical for cooking. The staff prepares meals twice a day for 180 people in a 20" container with limited equipment. They lack the necessary tools to provide proper meals.
  3. Need for Action
Preparing food in this inadequate space poses a health and safety hazard to those preparing it. The quality and quantity of food currently prepared does not meet the demands of the people they care for.
  4. Measures
Build a multi-function work/training kitchen where healthy meals can be prepared to feed the homeless, the infirm in the town via food parcels. The kitchen will also serve as a training kitchen to reskill adults and teach youth groups. 50 000 CHF

  6. Impact
Provide healthy and nutritious meals to 180 homeless individuals and distribute food parcels to approximately 150 infirm and poor residents of the town. Introduce new skill sets to the rural area to enhance employability and create new opportunities
  7. Special Quality of the Project; Suitability of the Organization
The food parcels will provide income to the centre, as well as some of the professional training offered through our partners. The work/training kitchen is also intended to generate income for the centre, making it self-sustaining.
