The impact of Recreational Therapy on the well-being of children and adolescents with pathologies

  1. Goal
    The project aims at the amelioration of the mental and physical well-being of children and teenagers with pathologies and with disabilities, and indirectly of their families, through actions based on Recreational Therapy carried out at the Camp.
  2. Challenge
    Children and adolescents with pathologies and disabilities have feelings of fear, discouragement and mistrust that affect their personality and self-esteem and face social and environmental barriers that limit their inclusion and socialization.
  3. Need for Action
    There is a lack of structures that offer adequate and free of charge activities that satisfy the needs of children and adolescents with pathologies and disabilities and of their families, increasing the level of distress and isolation.
  4. Measures
    The project foresees the following actions in order to achieve its goal: 1. General coordination and monitoring of the project; 2. Selection of beneficiaries; 3. Organization of Sessions of Recreational Therapy at the Camp in Tuscany.
  5. Cooperation Partner
    Fondazione Dynamo Camp will collaborate with the hospitals and associations that support children and adolescent with chronic and serious diseases and with disabilities in the selection and follow up of the young participants.
  6. Impact
    At least 100 children and teenagers aged 6-17 years with disease and with disabilities coming from Italy and from foreign countries will participate to session of Recreational Therapy; at least 100 families will indirectly benefit from the project.
  7. Special Quality of the Project; Suitability of the Organization
    Fondazione Dynamo Camp has developed an important expertise in the assistance and free of charge hospitality of children and adolescent with serious pathologies and with disabilities; in all its programs it follows the Recreation Therapy methodology.
