Hope and Aid: Supporting Displaced Persons and Refugee Children in Myanmar and Thailand

  1. Goal
To meet the urgent humanitarian needs of 560 internally displaced persons in Myanmar—360 in Myawaddy and 200 along the Moei River—and to support 300 unaccompanied Myanmar refugee children and youth in Mae Sot, Thailand.
  2. Challenge
This project offers emergency aid to 560 displaced persons in Myanmar (360 in Myawaddy, 200 along the Moei River) and supports 300 unaccompanied Myanmar refugee children in Mae Sot with essential needs and vocational training.
  3. Need for Action
Urgent action is vital due to severe shortages for IDPs and rising risks of child trafficking and violence. With more unaccompanied children in Mae Sot, essential supplies and vocational training are crucial for their safety and survival.
  4. Measures
We will provide food, shelter materials, first aid kits, hygiene kits, education kits, and non-food items like blankets and clothing. Additionally, we will build and equip a vocational training center for refugee skills development.
  5. Cooperation Partner
To set up this cross-border IDP humanitarian response, Tdh is partnering with its trusted and highly effective partner Rights Beyond Borders . RBB is a Mae Sot based organization with a strong working relationship with the Karen Women’s Oraganisation
  6. Impact
This project builds on Tdh and RBB's past success, supporting 26,985 IDPs and 383 unaccompanied children with essential aid and WASH facilities. It extends previous efforts and complements Tdh’s broader work in Myanmar.
  7. Special Quality of the Project; Suitability of the Organization
In 2023, Tdh supported 5.2 million people with 230+ projects, including migration and WASH. We trained 40,000+ for sustainability. Our expertise and local partnerships, especially in conflict zones like Myanmar, ensure effective, context-specific aid
