Goal
By project end, 1,000 flood-affected children and families will receive emergency aid and psychosocial support. 700 households will get cash for essentials. Community protection will be enhanced with 30 structures and 25 volunteers.
-
Challenge
Kenya’s devastating floods have killed 238 people and displaced 286,011. Roads are blocked, livestock lost, and disease risks rise. With Cyclone Hidaya imminent, urgent aid is critical for recovery.
-
Need for Action
Displaced children face child labor and abuse. Families lack food, shelter, and healthcare. Floods increase disease risks, and temporary shelters heighten GBV risks. Mental health issues also are rising. Immediate protective measures are essential.
-
Measures
We’ll support 1,000 children with emergency aid and counseling, assist 700 households with cash, and strengthen community protection. Medical and hygiene support will be provided in affected areas.
