Goal
Our goal is to humanely control street dog populations in Karnataka through spaying/neutering, provide rabies vaccinations, and educate communities, thereby enhancing public health, animal welfare, and fostering a harmonious human-animal coexistence.

Challenge
The Karnataka Animal Welfare Program, led by Humane World for Animals, focuses on humane street dog management, spaying/neutering, rabies vaccination, and community education and capacity building in Karnataka, India, to promote animal and public health.

Need for Action
Urgent action is needed to address overpopulation of street dogs in Karnataka, which leads to public health risks, including rabies, and animal suffering. Effective, humane management and community education are critical for a sustainable solution.

Measures
We will implement mass spaying/neutering, run rabies vaccination drives, and conduct community outreach programs. This requires veterinary staff, medical supplies, educational materials, and support for local partnerships and logistics.

Cooperation Partner
The primary collaborations for this project will be with the police and municipal leadership of Karnataka state, as well as many community SPCAs.
