Education: A girl's strongest weapon - Strengthening education policy in Sindhuli, Nepal

The project aims to retain adolescent girls in secondary education in Sindhuli by addressing dropout rates and creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment. Through improved infrastructure, gender-responsive teaching, and community awareness, the project seeks to empower girls, enhance their educational outcomes, and reduce gender disparities. Strengthened local education systems will ensure lasting solutions for equitable access and quality education.

The project addresses barriers to adolescent girls' education in Sindhuli, Nepal, including high dropout rates, unsafe school environments, inadequate facilities, and entrenched gender inequalities. It aims to ensure girls’ retention in secondary education by enhancing infrastructure, promoting gender-responsive teaching, and fostering community awareness. Through inclusive policies and local capacity building, the project seeks to empower girls and create lasting change.

Action is urgently needed to address the systemic barriers limiting adolescent girls’ education in Sindhuli. High dropout rates, unsafe school environments, inadequate facilities, and gender biases hinder their academic progression and future opportunities. By improving infrastructure, promoting gender-equitable teaching, and engaging communities, the project will create an inclusive education system, ensuring girls can thrive and break cycles of inequality.

To achieve the goal, the project will: - Improve school infrastructure with gender-friendly facilities (WASH and MHM). - Train teachers in gender-responsive, inclusive teaching methods. - Conduct community campaigns on the value of girls’ education. - Build local capacity via training for School Management Committees and Parent-Teacher Associations. - Advocate for inclusive education policies.
