Gold Standard was established in 2003 by WWF and other international NGOs to ensure projects that reduced carbon emissions featured the highest levels of environmental integrity and also contributed to sustainable development. With the adoption of the Paris Climate Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals, we launched a best practice standard for climate and sustainable development interventions, Gold Standard for the Global Goals, to maximise impact, creating value for people around the world and the planet we share.

1. Purpose (SOGC)

   Encouragement mondial des projets envisageant l'exploitation des énergies non-fossiles et de l'amélioration de l'efficacité de l'énergie, des projets et des méthodes visant à la réduction des émissions de gaz à effet de serre ainsi que la préoccupation de la protection durable du climat, notamment par la voie du développement, de la mise en oeuvre et de la propagation des standards de qualité pour les projets visant à diminuer l'émission de gaz à effet de serre, des contrôles de l'application des standards de qualité ainsi que des désignations des projets visant à diminuer l'émission de gaz à effet de serre qui correspondent aux critères des standards de qualité (cf. acte de fondation pour but complet).
