The Most Important in Brief

The English Seminar Choir was founded in 1989 by Allan Turner, a former lecturer at Basel University, in order to provide an opportunity for students to practice English through song. The choir is under the artistic leadership of Raitis Grigalis and Reiner Schneider-Waterberg and normally prepares and performs two programs per year (late May and early December). The choir is a non-profit making organisation, funded by members' dues, concert donations and sponsors contributions. Choir rehearsals are normally Tuesdays from 12:15 to 13:45 during the University semesters and take place in the Grosser Hörsaal of the English Seminar, Nadelberg 6.

Musikalische Vorerfahrungen sind nicht erforderlich, und die meisten Teilnehmer haben bereits in Chören gesungen. We are an international, multicultural choir who English-speaking choir who sing a range of classical music, in particular programs based around the secular and non-secular English choral traditions. Prior musical experience is necessary and most people have sung in choirs before.
