To address the challenges and achieve real progress, the Foundation’s solutions-based approach aligns with the industry’s CocoaAction strategy and focuses on three areas: productivity, community and environment. The challenges include limited knowledge of good agricultural practices, aging farms and depleted soil; limited access to education, medical facilities, and safe drinking water; and lack of financing options, infrastructure, and transportation. The Cocoa Horizons Foundation helps to create self-driven and self-sustaining cocoa communities. The program is currently present in Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Cameroon.

1. Purpose (SOGC)

   Die Stiftung bezweckt die Verbesserung der Lebensbedingungen der Kakaobauern und deren Gemeinschaften durch die Förderung einer nachhaltigen, unternehmerischen Landwirtschaft und deren Produktivität sowie der gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung, u.a. zum Schutze von Natur und Kindern. Die Stiftung ist im Rahmen dieser Zwecksetzung in Kakao-Anbauländern tätig, insbesondere in Afrika, Süd- und Mittelamerika sowie Asien. Zur Erreichung des Stiftungszwecks kann die Stiftung insbesondere in den Bereichen Agronomie, Soziales, Bildung, Gesundheit, Ökonomie und Technologie eigene Projekte entwickeln und durchführen oder sich an Projekten beteiligen bzw. dieselben durch Leistung finanzieller Beiträge unterstützen oder sonstige Hilfeleistungen irgendwelcher Art erbringen. Im Übrigen kann die Stiftung alle Massnahmen treffen, die zur Erreichung des Stiftungszwecks notwendig sind, insbesondere im In- und Ausland Stiftungen, ähnliche Zweckvermögen oder Gesellschaften errichten und sich an Gesellschaften beteiligen sowie Grundeigentum erwerben, belasten und veräussern. Die Stiftung kann Aufgaben ganz oder teilweise durch Dritte ausführen lassen. Die Stiftung hat gemeinnützigen Charakter und verfolgt keinerlei Erwerbszweck.
