  2. Principles

Human Dignity Every single person is created in the image of God. Therefore, they are invaluable and worthy of respect as a member of the human family. Option for the poor The Caritas commits itself to combat de-humanizing poverty, which deprives people of their dignity and humanity, and to promoting the rights of the poor. Preferential care should be shown to poor and vulnerable people, whose needs and rights are given special attention in God’s eyes. Common good The common good consists of respecting the rights and responsibilities of all people. It is reached when we all work together to improve the well-being of people in our society. The individual does not have unfettered rights at the expense of others, but nor are individual rights to be subordinated to the needs of the group. Universal destination of the Earth’s good The earth and all it produces is intended for every person. Private ownership is acceptable, but there is also a responsibility to ensure all have enough to live in dignity. If we have more than we need, there is a social mortgage to pay to ensure others not to go without. Solidarity Everyone belongs to one human family and everyone has an obligation to promote the development of all people in the world. Stewardship Caritas commits itself to be in solidarity not only with people but with the whole of creation and therefore seeks to act in an environmentally sustainable way at all times. From grassroots to global Caritas listens to the voice of the silent poor, speaks on their behalf, when necessary, and, above all, enables them to speak for themselves. Learning and Development We will place much greater emphasis on becoming a learning organization in terms of sharing experiences and ideas and on transforming this learning into more effective action. Partnership and Cooperation Caritas seeks to work on the basis of partnership, which should underline all relations between member organizations. Partnership implies a long-term commitment to agreed objectives, based on shared values, strategies and information. Witnessing We witness to our faith not only in words but in our deeds, the way we act in the world. This witnessing to the wider world implies openness, transparency and visibility. We will ensure that the way we communicate within and outside the Confederation will conform to our guiding values and principles.

  3. Financing

Financing Of The Plan The Strategic Plan will be financed through different fundraising activities: Participation in calls for funding and submitting unsolicited projects to partner organizations: grants will be acquired from different international and local donors. Every programmatic department will be responsible for developing new project proposals and participating in other calls for grants. Private donations and crowdfunding: Long Distance Sponsorship program is a coordinated initiative for collecting private donations. On the website of Caritas Georgia will be a “Donation” button for those who would like to make a one-time donation. Also, guests and visitors to Caritas Georgia leave a gift. The private contributions will be allocated based on earmarks or the needs of the projects. Governmental and municipality funding: Caritas Georgia works with the government on social protection, and the government partially funds some programs.
